Kelvin Ng being Kelvin Ng

We went through a small claim tribunal consultation session with Kelvin Ng during mid May.

He agreed to refund all the out-standing payment during the consultation session.

Following payment schedule was agreed by Kelvin Ng and binded in Order of Tribunal:

- 1st payment - 50% of total amount by 30May'09
- 2nd payment - 50% of total amount by 30Jun'09

Again, the entry below are constructed base on facts like court order, documents and SMS exchange between Kelvin Ng and us.

From there, the same old experience begun.

1.) 29May'09 - We received a check from Kelvin, being the 1st payment for refund and compensation.

2.) 30May'09 - We deposited the check (not sure if it's Kelvin's account anyway).

3.) 02Jun'09 - Check returned. Reason for return: "Refer to Drawer". For those who know the game, it is quite straightforward to know that what actually happened. Kelvin Ng agreed to transfer the money to our account using Internet banking instead.

4.) 05Jun'09 - Received 25% of total amount in our account. Transaction code = "CAM", which means "Cash Deposit Machine". If the code is correct, then the money was not transferred using Internet banking. However, remaining of 1st payment was supposed to be deposited to my account within 1 day or 2 (06Jun'09 ~ 07Jun'09) via Internet banking.

5.) 10Jun'09 - Remaining 1st payment (25% of total amount) were not received. Kelvin Ng mentioned that he would check with bank on the progress. According to Kelvin Ng, Internet transfer would take another 1 ~ 2 days to complete (by 11 ~ 12Jun'09)

6.) 12Jun'09 - Remaining 1st payment (25% of total amount) were not received. Kelvin Ng mentioned that he would deposit the money to my account using cash deposit machine by 13Jun'09.

7.) 13Jun'09 - Remaining 1st payment (25% of total amount) were not received. Kelvin Ng claimed that there was problem with fund transfer from his client, hence he couldn't withdraw any cash. Kelvin Ng asked to wait until Monday.

8.) 15Jun'09 - Remaining 1st payment (25% of total amount) were not received. Kelvin Ng mentioned that he was sick.

9.) 16Jun'09 - Remaining 1st payment (25% of total amount) were not received. 1st payment was delayed for 16 days.

So as of now, we only receive half of the first payment. On top of that, a returned check, several delays and couple of technical faults from reputable banks (such a coincidence!!).

I am really getting a little puzzled with what Kelvin Ng said nowadays. On 12Jun'09, according to Kelvin Ng, the money was ready to be deposited to my account the next day. However, within 24 hours, all the money disappeared and he would need to wait for his owner's fund.

Hence my conclusion, based on my experience so far: please exert more caution when dealing with Kelvin Ng on monetary and scheduling issue.

Being friendly is one thing, delivering result is another.

To all Kelvin's current clients and suppliers, please contact me if you are encountering similar difficulty in dealing with Kelvin Ng. We should group together to see how we could work something out .

How we got Kelvin Ng Mee Chee's contact and quotation

Brief summary of how we got Kelvin's contact and quotation:

1.) Oct/Nov'08 - We got Kelvin Ng's mobile number from GPlan, when we first called GPlan office last year.

2.) 20Nov'08 - After meeting up with Kelvin, he submitted his first quotation under GPlan. (We still keep this quotation)

3.) Nov'08 - A few days after Kelvin submitted his first quotation under GPlan, he mentioned that he was leaving GPlan. He requoted us on his own.

4.) 17Jan'09 - We signed with Kelvin under his new company Artistic Design.

5.) Mar'09 - During casual conversation with Kelvin Ng, he mentioned that he was still with GPlan.

If what Kelvin Ng told me on Mar'09 was correct, I wonder how Kelvin Ng could quote and sign customer under Artistic Design, when he was still with GPlan? Maybe someone could enlighten me?

To be honest, it was quite difficult for us to believe that Kelvin Ng, who was one of the more talkabout IDs in a well known renovation forum in Singapore, actually did this to us. But if we look at Citigroup's share price today and compare it with share price 2 years ago, then unfortunately we have to admit that, anything can happen.

Anyway, up to now we are still yet to receive our refund from Kelvin Ng, 25 days after he terminated the contract on 07Apr'09.

Renovation experience with Kelvin Ng Mee Chee

Following is a brief summary of our Renovation experience with Kelvin Ng Mee Chee (Is he still with GPlan? Artistic Design? We have no idea at all.).

Point 1 ~ 11 of the entry below are constructed base on facts like receipts, written contract and SMS exchange between Kelvin Ng and us.

Here we go:

1. 17Jan’09 - We signed a renovation contract with Kelvin Ng

2. 26Feb’09 - We paid our 3rd payment (40% of total contract value), after confirmation of wardrobe design and upon starting of carpentry work.

3. 20Mar’09 - All wardrobes and carpentry works were scheduled to be delivered to our flat for start of assembly. However Kelvin Ng informed us via SMS on 20Mar'09 morning that there was issue with laminates of the wardrobes. The wardrobes were not delivered to our flat.

4. 20Mar’09 - we requested Kelvin Ng to send us photos of the fabricated wardrobes showing all the defects, to justify his reason of delaying the schedule. However, Kelvin Ng was unable to provide the photos up to now.

5. 25Mar’09 – We missed our scheduled moving in date.

6. 20Mar’09 to 06 Apr’09 - We were unable to met Kelvin Ng face to face to discuss on how to settle the issue since. For one particular meeting with his new carpenter to finalize the details, Kelvin Ng didn't attend, cited medical condition.

7. 20Mar’09 to 06 Apr’09 - We pushed hard for the delivery of the wardrobes. Kelvin Ng didn’t deliver the wardrobes, citing “mis-communication” between himself and the sub-contractor as reason of further delays. Kelvin Ng missed the schedule again.

8. 06Apr’09 - Assembly of all wardrobes was not started.

9. 07Apr’09 - When we requested Kelvin Ng to put all the delivery schedule in black & white, after all the delays, Kelvin Ng opted to terminate the renovation contract.

10. 07Apr’09 - In his SMS, Kelvin Ng mentioned that he would refund us the money on 08Apr'09.

11. 21Apr’09 - Up to now we are still yet to receive Kelvin Ngs’ confirmation on refund amount, not to mention the refund. Like usual, Kelvin Ng cited reasons like insufficient time reading the offer, sub-contractor issue, no thumb drive…

12. Kelvin Ng delayed renovation schedule of our flat, terminated the renovation contract when asked to put all schedule on writing, and yet up to now he is still delaying our refund. We wouldn’t want to comment on his business ethics, it’s better for all of you to judge yourselves base on our experience above.

13. As of now, we are having cash flow problem to continue on all the unfinished renovation works. We are unable to move in to our flat due to the unfinished works.

14. We have submitted the issue to authorities as we are so tired of chasing (more like begging) Kelvin Ng for the refund. We will do everything to get our money back and to defend our rights as consumer.

15. The past 1 month has been very tough for us. Imagine that we were constantly put under pressure, without knowing what will happen to our flat next. We were unable to plan for anything; we did not know when we could move in. All the sleepless nights after being informed of another delay by Kelvin Ng; it’s more like a nightmare for us so far.

16. To all the house owners who are currently using, or thinking of engaging Kelvin as their ID, please exert more caution when you are dealing with him.

17. To house owners who engaged Kelvin Ng as their ID previously, whereby we visited their apartment together with Kelvin Ng, we would like to thank all of you again for your goodwill in allowing strangers like us visiting your home and intruding your private time.

18. We will keep everybody updated with the progress of claiming our refund.
